What If the Hunter Became the Hunted in I Saw the Devil?

In I Saw the Devil, a secret agent named Kim is on a mission to track down a brutal serial killer, Kyung-chul, who killed his fiancée. As Kim gets closer to Kyung-chul, he becomes just as twisted and vengeful as the killer, blurring the lines between right and wrong.

One fan theory suggests that Kim, after all his suffering, is unknowingly becoming a monster like the one he’s hunting. What if, instead of avenging his fiancée, Kim had let go of his hatred and found peace? Would that have saved him from becoming the very thing he despised?

A key moment in the film is when Kim finally catches Kyung-chul and gets revenge. What if Kim had been caught in a moment of weakness and lost his moral compass? Would Kyung-chul have had the upper hand, turning the tables on the hunter?

An alternate ending could have Kyung-chul escaping, continuing his reign of terror, or perhaps a sequel where Kim, now a changed man, hunts down a new evil, reflecting on his own transformation. The story might never end, and that haunting possibility makes I Saw the Devil so compelling.
