The Divorce That Changed Everything

In A Separation, a married couple, Simin and Nader, are going through a tough divorce. They both want different things: Simin wants to leave Iran for a better future, while Nader wants to stay to take care of his father, who has Alzheimer’s. Their separation leads to a messy legal battle that involves lies, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings, impacting everyone around them, especially their daughter, Termeh.

A key moment happens when Nader is accused of causing harm to a woman named Razieh, which creates more tension. The court case and the arguments make us wonder: who is really telling the truth? The movie makes us question what’s fair and how far people will go to protect what they love.

Fan theories suggest that the movie’s complicated plot might reflect how society pressures individuals into making difficult choices, especially when it comes to family and tradition. What if Simin and Nader had found a way to work together instead of separating? Would the outcome have been different?

Imagine an alternate ending where they make the difficult decision to stay together, or a prequel showing their life before the divorce, explaining how things went wrong and how their love evolved.
